Duke of Edinburgh's Award

We are proud to offer the nationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as part of our commitment to developing well-rounded, resilient, and confident young people. The award is a cornerstone of our enrichment programme, giving students the opportunity to grow beyond the classroom and gain valuable life skills.

What is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

The DofE Award is the UK’s leading youth achievement programme, open to all students in the academic year they turn 14. It encourages young people to take on new challenges, develop independence, and make a positive impact in their communities.

Students work towards their Bronze Award by completing four key sections:

  • Volunteering – Giving back to the community
  • Physical – Improving health and fitness
  • Skill – Developing a personal interest or talent
  • Expedition – Planning and completing a two-day, one-night outdoor adventure
A distinctive DofE experience at Collingwood

Our experienced and passionate DofE team provides outstanding support throughout the programme. From training sessions and kit hire to personalised guidance and expedition supervision, we ensure every student is set up for success.

Participation in the DofE Award at Collingwood helps students:

  • Build confidence, resilience, and leadership
  • Develop teamwork and communication skills
  • Stand out in applications for college, university, and employment
  • Create lasting friendships and unforgettable memories
A proven track record

Each year, a large number of our Year 9 students enrol in the Bronze Award, with many continuing on to Silver and Gold in later years. Our expeditions take place in the beautiful Surrey Hills, and students benefit from structured training, expert supervision, and a strong sense of camaraderie.

A programme for everyone

We believe the DofE Award should be accessible to all. Financial support is available for eligible families, and we work closely with students to ensure that medical or personal circumstances are never a barrier to participation.
