Ofsted Inspection

I know I mentioned this last term, but I have no hesitation in raising this again as receiving a positive inspection report is so important to the future of the College.

As you may know, Ofsted has recently completed a number of inspections in schools in the locality and has visited many that were last inspected just before or after our last inspection. It therefore looks increasingly likely that we will receive our two-day inspection very soon.

Could I therefore again ask that when this happens you respond to the Ofsted Parent View survey.

In the last inspection in 2017 the Inspection team were very impressed with the number of responses and the very positive feedback that parents gave regarding the College, and I would very much hope that this can be repeated on this occasion.

Thank you in anticipation for your support.

Communication System

A reminder to all parents that if they have any praise or concerns, we ask that they use the College’s dedicated communication system which results in the communication being dealt with quickly and by the appropriate person.

I would like to remind parents of the home-college agreement that states ‘as a parent I will support the College’s approach to online safety and will not upload or add any text, image, sound or videos that could upset or offend any member of the College community or bring the College into disrepute’.

I do not believe that using social media is ever appropriate for registering concerns as it gives no opportunity for the College or individual to respond to what may be totally false comments and accusations. If further clarification or investigation of a matter is required, I would ask parents to use our system, as outlined above, and the matter will be fully looked into.

We have very few issues of this kind but I thought a reminder and a thank you for your support were timely.

March Progress Reports

Having collated the latest progress data from the March reports I am delighted with how the students are engaging in lessons and with the latest ATL (Attitude To Learning) data. The following table shows this below:

Year

Platinum or Green ATL

7

100%

8

96%

9

90%

10

91%

11

92%

Further I am pleased that 60% of students (Years 7-11) gained either a double or triple Platinum Progress March report. We also had an impressive 30 students from Years 7-11 who gained ‘perfect’ reports which is an outstanding achievement. All students should be congratulated on their successes in their reports and I look forward to seeing further progress in the next round of reports. Well done!
