Independent study
Sixth Form at Collingwood is a time of exciting growth, greater independence, and real preparation for the future. While you’ll still benefit from the structure and support that helped you succeed at GCSE, you’ll also enjoy more freedom to shape your own path—academically, personally, and professionally.
A study programme tailored to you
Every student at Collingwood follows a carefully planned, full-time study programme designed to stretch, challenge, and inspire. Typically, this includes:
Qualifications
Most students study three A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualifications, including BTECs and applied general courses. Our broad curriculum allows you to choose subjects that match your strengths, interests, and future ambitions.
English and Maths support
If you haven’t yet achieved a grade 4 in GCSE English or Maths, we’ll support you to re-sit these qualifications. Where appropriate, we also offer Level 2 Functional Skills to help you build essential literacy and numeracy.
Experience of work
In Year 12, all students take part in work experience or work-related activities, helping you explore career options and apply your skills in real-world settings.
Beyond the classroom
Sixth Form is about more than just qualifications. Our weekly seminar programme, regular personal tutor meetings, and a wide range of enrichment activities help you develop the confidence, character, and broader skills needed for life beyond school.
Independent study
You’ll have timetabled supervised study sessions to help you build strong independent learning habits - an essential skill for university, apprenticeships, or employment.
We foster a mature learning environment where students are respected as young adults. You’ll be supported every step of the way, but also encouraged to take ownership of your learning, your goals, and your future.
