A High Performing Specialist Academy for Technology & Applied Learning

29 March 2023

Year 11 Assembly

Yesterday, I led the Year 11 assembly and encouraged Year 11 to reflect on their two PPE performances by opening their second envelope.  The students were encouraged to reflect on their subjects and to analyse what subjects had gone well and which subjects still needed some more revision.  Furthermore, I discussed the ‘Power of Yet’ where I challenged the students to have a growth mindset and that with the College values of ‘aspiration and perseverance’ the students could still make an impact on their results in the summer.  I also reminded the students that there are still several learning opportunities that I would encourage them to utilise in the lead up to their forthcoming examinations such as:

  • Be punctual and engage in all lessons up until the final exam in the subject
  • Attend before and after College revision sessions
  • Engage with the external motivational speaker on study skills and revision
  • Sign up for the ‘Power Up Days’ on 3 and 4 April
  • Attend Academic Review Day revision and coursework catch-up
  • Booster breakfasts before external examinations.

The Pastoral team also introduced the ‘Passport to the Prom’ criteria which will be an exciting event in June to look forward to after all the hard work!  It would be a good idea if you could discuss these opportunities and to reiterate the messages in our pursuit of excellence.

Academic Review Day (ARD)

A reminder that ARD is on Thursday 30 March where you are invited to sign up to a 15-minute appointment which can be face to face or a remote meeting using the Parents’ Evening Booking System to discuss your child’s progress with their Form Tutor or Mentor.  All work for students will be set on OneNote for them. The booking system will remain open until 5.00pm today.  If you are unable to book an appointment, please contact Barossa or Kingston Office who will be able to make an appointment on your behalf.

Last Day of Term

Please note the last day of term is on Thursday 30 March and students should only attend College for their Academic Review appointment or if they have been invited to attend for revision or coursework catch-up.

Have a lovely Easter holiday.
